Upper Body Conditioning

Level 1

Focus: Development of basic bodyweight support positions and scapular awareness.

Curriculum:

  • Isolation of scapula (shoulder blades). Understanding of different scapular positions and application of which position best serves which function.
  • Comprehensive overview of pushing and pulling techniques.
  • Basic isometric holds: Planche and L Sit. Benefits of isometric training.
  • Joint mobility and prep work to strengthen joints and minimize injury.
  • Terminology and proper cues for effective learning.

Level 2

Focus: Advanced bodyweight static holds and transitions.

Curriculum:

  • Intermediate to advanced support positions: Front lever, Back lever, Straddle planche, QDR.
  • Transition drills for static holds.
  • Handstands for conditioning.
  • Intro to gymnastics rings work: Basic support, Skin the cat.
  • Joint mobility and prep work to strengthen joints and minimize injury.

Level 3

Focus: Beginner to intermediate gymnastics rings work

Curriculum:

  • Gymnastics rings techniques: Muscle up, Skin the cat, Front roll, Should stand, Front lever, Back lever.
  • Intro to OAC (One Arm Chin-up).
  • Creating a flow routine on rings.
  • Intermediate handstands: Tuck and Straddle, Press handstand.
  • Joint mobility and prep work to strengthen joints and minimize injury.
